Ex-Bronco's running back LenDale White seems pretty excited about the fact that weed is now legal in Colorado, completely decriminalized. It was also decriminalized for recreational use in Washington. So perhaps some Seahawks and Broncos are getting excited about their new found freedom. Apparently not. The NFL would like to remind them, you know, it's still not cool with the Rog.
Says NFL spokesman Greg Aiello:
“The NFL’s policy is collectively bargained and will continue to apply in the same manner it has for decades, Marijuana remains prohibited under the NFL substance abuse program.”Of course that's just for two states, and it's still illegal on federal level to smoke marijuana recreationally. On the other hand, how many times has a player gotten busted smoking marijuana that had never before (or never announced before) tested positive for marijuana? Numerous times.
For instance, Seahawks LB LeRoy Hill has gotten busted, and Marshawn Lynch was once found with 4 blunts in his car, but he was never charged.
So yeah, this leaves the door open for them to still get suspended if they test positive for marijuana. It also leaves the door for them to walk away if police find marijuana on their persons, and if they pass a test they're in the clear. They could always consult Onterio "The Wizzinator" Smith for any help on how to (or how to not) pass NFL drug tests.
Not that LenDale White has anything to worry about.
