The Honey Badger may not care, but Les Miles certainly does. LSU All-American safety and Heisman candidate Tyrann "Honey Badger" Mathieu is no longer a part of the LSU football team. He was kicked off the team for "violating team and university rules" as is usually the case when a suspension or dismissal is announced. However, it's being reported what everyone assumed was the case regardless.
Allegedly Mathieu failed another drug test, which led to his dismissal. He was suspended last season in October for testing positive for synthetic marijuana. Les Miles did not comment as to whether it was indeed a failed drug test or not.
Losing Mathieu is a huge loss to the Tigers, in 26 games he recorded 133 tackles, and 4 interceptions. Last season he returned two fumbles and two punts for touchdowns, and he curretnly holds the LSU record for forced fumbles. He is currently looking for another school to play at next season.
Looks like people are already having fun with his Wikipedia page, unless he actually majored in "Smoking Weed and Busting Nuts"
Update: in the whole "what in the fuck is actually happening" situation between Mathieu, LSU, and McNeese St. some rumors are finally coming out. After it first came out that Mathieu wants to take a year off and then play again at LSU, it looks like he might be taking the steps to do so.
Mathieu has allegedly decided to dedicate himself by checking into rehab, ignoring classes and football, in order for a chance to stay at LSU. He has apparently checked into the Right Step rehab facility in Houston. Mathieu had reportedly tested positive for synthetic marijuana, which is legal in Louisiana.
He will be mentored by Jon Lucas, a 14 year NBA veteran who was previously addicted to cocaine and alcohol.
