Jonathan Newsome DE Ball State

After playing two seasons at Ohio State, Jonathan Newsome transferred to Ball State and sat out a season per NCAA rules. This year he is listed as a starting defensive end for the Cardinals. A warrant led to more charges for Newsome as he was arrested on Monday.

Newsome was pulled over for not signaling a left hand turn at around 1:20 A.M. Monday morning. Newsome stated that he had just left a party and was dropping some friends off. Police checked his tags and found that his license was expired and that he had a warrant for failing to show up to court on a conversion charge. When police searched his vehicle they found a wallet next to the drivers seat which contained his student ID and other documents, as well as a bag of marijuana. He was charged with a misdemeanor possession of marijuana charge, as well as being held on the warrant.

Ball State head coach Pete Lembo is waiting on the university before taking any disciplinary action. Ball State opens their season against Eastern Michigan on Thurdsay, August 30th.

Newsome played in 18 games, mostly special teams, for Ohio State during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Update: Well, this arrest got a hell of a lot more hilarious. The conversion charge was for a shoplifting ticket, in which Newsome stole some male enhancement pills. It's always unfortunate when you're trying to help pleasure your lady and then all of the sudden you get busted with marijuana.
