Travis Long LB WSU

Steven Bisig, US Presswire

Washington State buck linebacker Travis Long was one of two Cougar defensive players to get arrested over the weekend. Nose tackle Anthony Laurenzi was arrested and charged with 3rd degree theft after an incident that happened at a WalMart, while Long was arrested and charged with minor in possession of alcohol.

Long was arrested on July 20th, and today would have been his 21st birthday. He did what many didn't do -- took the chance on going out the weekend before your 21st, but he ultimately failed.

Long is a starter and is supposed to be a key component to the Cougars defense. He was listed on the Rotary Lombardi, Butkus, and Bronco Nagurski award preseason watch lists. The former three star recruit led the team with 5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss last season.
