Carson Baranik P LSU
LSU freshman pitcher Carson Baranik was drafted in the 41st round of the 2011 MLB draft by the Cincinnati Reds, but decided against going professional and enrolled at LSU this year. However, he has been suspended indefinitely from the team following his DUI arrest early Saturday morning.
Baranik was pulled over for running a red light at around 1:30 A.M. Saturday morning, and the officers noticed that he had glassy eyes, poor balance, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. Police reports show that he performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and ended up blowing just over a .14 on the breathalyzer. He was booked into jail around 3:30 A.M. on charges of disobeying a red light, reckless operation of a vehicle, and first offense DWI.
LSU head baseball coach Paul Mainieri suspended Baranik indefinitely immediately following the incident.
