Fresh off his NL MVP season, Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun will have to answer numerous questions as to how much of his success is due to alleged PED usage.
Braun submitted a urine sample during the playoffs, before winning the MVP award, and was notified about the positive test late October.
The positive test was due to elevated levels of testosterone in his system, it is natural to have a 1 to 1 ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone and any level above 4 to 1 is considered a positive test. The World Anti-Doping Agency lab did a second test and proved that it came from outside of his body and wasn't a natural elevated level. Braun is facing a 50 game suspension.
Earlier in the year Braun stated in an interview, "I would never do it because if I took steroids, I would hit 60 or 70 home runs." So clearly that must mean he never took steroids. He only hit 32 last season.
