Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall, traded from the Denver Broncos after 2 Pro Bowl seasons in 2010, has had an interesting tenure with the Dolphins. He had been allegedly stabbed by his wife, then claimed his wife didn't stab him, and then was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.
Now, he has a interesting misunderstanding that led to him briefly being detained in handcuffs by the police. Marshall was at a party celebrating teammate Karlos Dansby's birthday. When he left the party he found a cab home and eventually passed out in the cab. The driver apparently got a bit lost, saying:
“He didn’t know where he wanted to go, When I woke him up and told him he had to pay, he said he wasn’t and started arguing for me to take him home.”According to the cabbie when Marshall got frustrated he stated he needed to use the bathroom and got out of the cab and entered the lobby. He was then seen using another exit and entering a different cab. Marshall's agent states that he was trying to get a translator for the driver who had a thick accent. The driver told the other driver about the incident and Marshall still refused to pay the cab driver, then the original driver called the police and claimed Marshall, who signed a 4 year $47.5 million extension last year, was evading the $142 cab fare.
The new cab driver, instead of taking him home, drove him to a security checkpoint and honked his horn declaring that his passenger was "wanted by the police." Seems a little overboard.
In the end, they all shook hands and Marshall paid all his fees. It's a good thing that he actually went and got a cab instead of in 2007 when he was arrested for DUI.
On the year Marshall has 850 yards and 3 touchdowns with turd quarterbacks Matt Moore and Chad Henne throwing him the ball.
