Matt Prater K Denver Broncos
Matt Prater, who made 16 of 18 field goal attempts last season and has 79.1% career accuracy, was arrested last night on charges of driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of an accident. No other details have been released regarding the incident other than it occurred on August 2nd, proving you don't need a lockout to get arrested.
Last night in a preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys, Prater was 3/3 on field goals, with a long of 42 yards.
Update: The incident started at around 3 AM when Prater's Trail Blazer had backed up into a parked silver car in a hotel parking lot, and he didn't leave a note on the vehicle because as police reported Prater "didn't leave a note on the vehicle he hit because there was multiple witnesses confronting/yelling at him." Police, before searching for Prater and his vehicle, went into the hotel lobby where they found a woman that said she was the passenger in the car. She claimed she had met "Matt P." at Shotgun Willie's where she worked and they had come back to find a hotel room, but the hotel was full.
When they finally found Prater and his vehicle at a nearby hotel, he claimed he had not been drinking, but failed field sobriety tests. According to the police report, he then said at the police station, "I really messed up. I'm going to lose my job. I deserve this." A breath test was given at the police station, and Prater was charged with DUI and fleeing the scene of an accident.
