Dan Heiar OL Iowa
Iowa OL Dan Heiar, who was seriously injured in a car accident last April, was officially charged with driving under the influence in June, and plead not guilty to the charge earlier this month.
The 20 year old transfer allegedly veered his vehicle off the interstate at around 3:00 AM hitting a guard rail. The truck then slid down down a hill and landed on it's top pinning Heiar inside. Heiar had to be extracted from the vehicle, and spent multiple weeks inside the hospital treating his injuries. The reason for the DUI, other than the fact that they likely took a blood sample at the hospital, is that police found multiple empty beer cans in his overturned car.
Heiar will likely take a redshirt as he heals from his injuries during the 2011 season. Heiar had transferred from the Iowa Western Community College.
