Joe Burnett CB New York Giants
Joe Burnett, a former 5th round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2009, was arrested and charged with DUI over the weekend. Burnett lasted little over a year with the Steelers after being a mid round draft selection, and signed a futures contract with the Giants this offseason. He only lasted a couple weeks into the lockout before being arrested.
Burnett was observed driving at a slow speed and not maintaining his lane position, the officer continued to follow him and his speed raised to as high as 10 MPH over the speed limit before he was pulled over for driving erratically. Officers noticed alcohol on his breath when they approached the vehicle. Burnett accepted to do field sobriety tests, which he then failed, and was taken downtown where he blew a whopping .046 in the breathalyzer. The legal limit to drive is .08, but a person can still be charged with driving under the influence if it is deemed they are to impaired to drive.
Burnett was a record setting CB with the UCF Knights, and was named first team All-American as a Senior, as well as placing on many first team All-Freshman lists his freshman year. He one first team punt returner all 4 years he was at UCF and accumulated 16 interceptions which is 2nd in CUSA history. With all that being said, he has zero interceptions in 15 NFL games played.
