Erik Ainge QB New York Jets
When we last checked in with New York Jets QB Erik Ainge, he was checking into rehab for "recreational issues". Now, in an interview with ESPNNewYork's Rich Cimini, he opens up about his drug addictions and alcoholism.
Usually I would joke about trying to figure out which drugs it was for a player to get in trouble if the drug wasn't released, but this I could have just said, "All of the Above". Ainge admitted to being addicted to marijuana, alcohol, painkillers and other medication, cocaine, and heroin. He went as far as to say, "I would've made Charlie Sheen look like Miss Daisy."
He talks about how he was driving under the influence nearly every night, pulling out hundreds of dollars at a time from the ATM to fuel his heroin habit, and a two week bender prior to training camp that led to him getting arrested, but not charged.
He spent time in a Massachussets rehab center, and now has been clean for the longest period since he was 11 years old. It's an interesting read into the life of an NFL drug addict.
