Desmond Bishop LB Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers LB Desmond Bishop did a lot of talking about how he wanted more playing time in the offseason, specifically saying this:
"It's a real sticky situation, I want to be out there badly. But at the same time, some people out there don't even have jobs, so I'm kind of grateful to be in the position I'm in to even have a job and being able to compete for whatever. The team is trying to get to the Super Bowl. That's the main goal. But at the same time, in the back of my mind, I'm itching to get in there and make my statement. You realize that it's truly a business. That's what it is, No player is bigger than the business of the game, so you have to kind of look at it as if you're a CEO of a company. If you had a good worker for cheap, why give him away?"
Well despite all of that, he started out behind A.J. Hawk, Nick Barnett, and Brandon Chillar at ILB in the Packers 34 scheme. Then injuries started piling up, especially to the defense knocking out Chillar and Barnett for the season, then Desmond Bishop got his chance and started 12 games for the season. You got to think though, sounds like he was right. He should have been starting since day 1. He racked up 103 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and an interception that he returned for a touchdown. He cashed in on that play, signing today a 4 year $19 million dollar contract which seems to highly favor the the organization, however that is not bad for a former 6th round pick in 2007. With that kind of money, you can afford to not party with the girls seen above. Unless he's scouting her to be the backup offensive guard.
