Tim Green and Martez Smith, and defensive lineman Deddrick Jones were shot following an altercation that ended up flooding outside of a club. An argument inside of Remmington's Hunt Club spilled outside when the three players were shot at around 1:30 AM. All three players are listed in fair and stable condition.
Redshirt Junior Deddrick Jones had surgery to remove a bullet from his lung, and his injuries are considered non-life threatening according to a family member.
Redshirt Senior Martez Smith, called his grandparents and told them he could not move his legs, and they fear that the LB may be paralyzed. No word on Tim Green's specific condition yet.
Police are not ruling out gang involvement with the shooters, however the 3 players were not armed during the altercation. The three players were celebrating there upset victory over the ranked University of Central Florida. We wish a speedy recovery to all three of the players involved.
Update: The bullet that struck Martez Smith severed his spinal cord and he may never be able to walk again, Deddrick Jones as reported before was shot in the chest, and Tim Green was shot in the neck striking his vocal cords. 2 people were arrested in connection with the shooting, and one more is being sought as the actual shooter. That club, and all other clubs, are off limits to players until this matter is settled.
