Aaron Hernandez fell down the draft boards, from a likely day 2 pick, all the way to day 3. And it was all for the weed, failing numerous drug tests while at the University of Florida. You got to wonder now if smoking that much weed was worth the millions of dollars he likely lost, after falling to pick 113. Then again, he can be thankful he's talented enough to get drafted, because some players (Nyan Boateng/Darius Marshall) didn't get drafted at all after testing positive, and Anthony McCoy (now on the Seahawks) fell all the way round 6 pick 165.
Quotable Edit: The Boston Globe had some interesting quotes from AFC and NFC personnel like:
"It’s not like he failed one test, He had repeated issues with it, to the point where you worry about whether he’ll be able to lay off the stuff at our level. To be honest, he’s super talented and, even with the issues, I’m surprised he fell as far he did."
“He had multiple positive tests, so he either had issues or he’s dumb. One or two tests? Fine. But four, five, six? Come on, now you’ve got an addiction. He’s not a bad kid. He just has an issue.’’
